Founded by Giacomo Bologna in the 1960s, Domaine Braida has become a benchmark of Piedmont and a driving force in the renaissance of the Barbera grape. Visionary and passionate, Giacomo revealed the true potential of this often-overlooked variety, raising it to the level of Italy’s greatest wines.
Located in Rocchetta Tanaro, in the rolling hills of Asti, the estate now covers about 50 hectares. Its clay-limestone soils and favorable microclimate allow Barbera to achieve exceptional depth and aromatic intensity. Alongside this flagship grape, Braida also cultivates Nebbiolo, Grignolino, and Moscato.
The estate’s philosophy strikes a perfect balance between tradition and modernity. Its iconic wines Bricco dell’Uccellone, Montebruna, and Bricco della Bigotta are celebrated for their precision, elegance, and authenticity. Each cuvée combines aromatic richness, freshness, and impressive ageing potential.
Now led by Giacomo’s children, Raffaella and Giuseppe Bologna, Braida continues to embody the pioneering spirit of its founder while embracing a contemporary vision of winemaking. Its bottles are among the most sought-after by collectors and wine enthusiasts, representing the very best of Piedmont.
To discover Braida is to experience the story of a family estate that transformed a humble grape into a global icon.
