Pommard Red: The Noble Strength of Côte de Beaune

Known for its firm and structured reds, Pommard is one of the Côte de Beaune’s most iconic villages. Its Pinot Noir wines show power, depth and excellent cellaring potential.

A terroir built for substance

Clay-limestone soils, often rich and iron-tinged, give color, density and tannic backbone. The relatively cool local climate enhances freshness and complexity in the wines.

A bold and recognizable style

Pommard reds offer aromas of black fruits, blackberry, morello cherry, with notes of leather, forest floor and truffle as they age. On the palate, they are full-bodied, structured and long-finishing.

Premier Crus and aging capacity

Many vineyard plots are classified as Premier Cru (Les Rugiens, Les Épenots…), producing age-worthy wines that can evolve for decades.

Food pairings

Excellent with red meats, game, sauced dishes and aged cheeses. Try Pommard with hare stew or a matured rib of beef.
