There are places that naturally invite silence.

The Sainte-Victoire mountain is one of them. Famous, of course, but above all magnetic: a mineral, luminous presence, almost sharp in its intensity. Just a few kilometres from Aix-en-Provence, in the sheltered setting of Le Tholonet, Domaine des Artauds took root here, right at the foot of the mountain as if the wine first had to learn how to breathe with it.

Around an 18th-century family bastide, the vines stretch across south and south-west facing slopes, bathed in sunlight and swept by circulating air. Here, the climate is described as continental, with cold winters and hot, dry summers — a clear rhythm that gives the grapes full, precise ripeness without heaviness.

The estate is not large, and that is precisely its strength: 4.5 hectares, a human-scale vineyard where every row matters. The soil also plays a central role: clay-limestone, with the local “Langesse limestone” highlighted by the estate as one of the keys to its balance.

The vineyard follows a clear path: organic farming, with wines crafted entirely at the estate — from vinification and barrel ageing to bottling. It is an artisanal philosophy, where observation and tasting guide each decision, vintage after vintage.

In terms of style, the grape varieties tell the story of Provence without falling into cliché: Grenache and Syrah for the reds, Cinsault and Rolle for the rosés, and Rolle & Clairette for the white. Three colours, one shared intention: to let Sainte-Victoire speak through a clear, sunlit and finely held expression.
