Located in Ampuis, at the heart of the Côte-Rôtie appellation, Domaine Pierre Barge embodies the authenticity and tradition of Northern Rhône’s great wines. For several generations, the Barge family has cultivated vineyards on Ampuis’s steep slopes, perpetuating artisanal savoir-faire passed down with passion.
The vineyard covers about 10 hectares, mainly planted with Syrah, the region’s flagship grape, complemented by small amounts of Viognier that add finesse and aromatic complexity. Granite and schist soils, combined with ideal exposures, give the wines depth, structure and character.
Viticulture is carried out with respect for the environment and local traditions, with manual work made essential by the steepness of the slopes. Harvesting is done entirely by hand, ensuring rigorous grape selection. In the cellar, winemaking follows a traditional approach, with long fermentations and careful ageing in oak barrels.
Pierre Barge wines are admired for their aromatic intensity, silky tannins and remarkable ageing potential. They reveal notes of dark fruits, spices, violets and a distinctive mineral touch that faithfully reflects the Ampuis terroirs.
