Saint-Estèphe Red: Strength, Authenticity & Longevity
Located at the northern edge of Médoc, Saint-Estèphe produces some of Bordeaux’s most powerful and structured red wines. The appellation includes five 1855 Classified Growths and many respected Cru Bourgeois estates.
Distinctive clay-limestone terroir
Its soils of gravel mixed with clay and limestone can delay ripening but result in firm tannic structure and impressive aging potential — hallmarks of the appellation’s style.
Intense and expressive profile
Saint-Estèphe reds offer ripe black fruit, pepper, leather and forest floor notes. On the palate, they are full-bodied, tannic and vibrant, evolving beautifully with time.
A terroir with bold character
Less immediately charming than Margaux or Saint-Julien, Saint-Estèphe appeals to connoisseurs seeking depth, structure and Médoc authenticity.
Food pairings
Perfect with game, braised meats, roast lamb or aged hard cheeses like Parmesan or Comté.
