Corsican Reds: Island Authenticity with Bold Character

Corsican red wines express the unique identity of the island: vibrant, aromatic cuvées deeply rooted in their native terroirs. Indigenous grape varieties and varied soils give these wines their fresh intensity and distinctive personality.

Native grape varieties

Niellucciu, Sciaccarellu and Aleatico are some of the iconic grapes of the island. Niellucciu, similar to Sangiovese, delivers structured, spicy wines. Sciaccarellu offers lighter reds with floral, red berry and peppery notes, prized for their finesse.

A unique terroir shaped by sea and mountains

Corsica’s Mediterranean climate is moderated by altitude and marine winds. With granite, schist and limestone soils and diverse exposures, the region produces a wide range of styles — from light, fruity reds to more complex, age-worthy wines.

Food pairings

Corsican reds are a perfect match for grilled meats, local charcuterie, Mediterranean dishes and aged cheeses. Their balance of structure and freshness makes them versatile at the table.

A committed and evolving vineyard

Corsica’s wine scene is experiencing a qualitative revival, led by a new generation focused on authenticity and terroir expression. Organic farming and sustainable practices are increasingly embraced across the island.
