Anjou Red: Fresh and Supple Loire Valley Charm

The Anjou red appellation stretches across the hills south of the Loire, near Angers and Saumur. Mostly made from Cabernet Franc (sometimes with Cabernet Sauvignon), these wines balance structure, freshness and easy drinkability.

A terroir shaped by contrasts

Schist, sandstone and tuffeau soils, combined with a temperate oceanic climate, allow slow and even grape ripening — yielding fresh, aromatic and elegant red wines.

Direct and fruity style

Anjou reds reveal aromas of cherry, raspberry, sweet pepper, and sometimes licorice or underbrush. The palate is soft and fresh, with fine tannins and a lively finish.

An easy-going, food-friendly wine

Best enjoyed young for freshness and fruit, some can also age nicely. Great for everyday pairings with healthy, seasonal cuisine.

Food pairings

Perfect with grilled white meats, vegetable gratins, country pâté or soft goat cheese. A go-to Loire red for casual meals.
