Auxey-Duresses: Balanced Wines from Côte de Beaune’s Hidden Valley

Located west of Meursault and nestled between hillsides, Auxey-Duresses produces both red and white wines that are honest, expressive, and underrated.

Supple and honest Pinot Noirs

Auxey-Duresses reds offer aromas of cherry, redcurrant, black pepper, and hints of leather. On the palate, they are structured, fresh, with fine tannins and great balance.

Fresh and mineral whites

Chardonnay whites show citrus zest, hazelnut, white flowers, and a marked mineral tension. They resemble neighboring Meursault but with more nerve and verticality.

A terroir in transition

Vines grow on east- and southeast-facing slopes of limestone and stony soils. Several climats are classified Premier Cru, delivering excellent value for Burgundy lovers.

Food pairings

Reds: Pair with roast pork, farm chicken, grilled mushrooms.
Whites: Ideal with seafood, grilled fish, creamy poultry dishes, or aged goat cheese.
