Located in Gigondas, at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail, Château de Saint Cosme is the village’s oldest wine estate, with origins dating back to the 1st century. Owned by the Barruol family since 1570, it is now run by Louis Barruol, the fifteenth generation of winemakers.

The vineyard covers about 15 hectares of old vines, planted on limestone, clay-sand and marl soils, offering a remarkable diversity of terroirs. The leading grape variety is Grenache, complemented by Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault, which contribute to the wines’ complexity and balance.

Viticulture is carried out with great respect for soil and biodiversity, combining traditional practices with parcel-based precision. In the cellar, winemaking is minimally interventionist, preserving terroir expression, while oak ageing adds depth and harmony.

Château de Saint Cosme wines are renowned for their aromatic intensity, velvety tannins and impressive ageing potential. They display notes of dark fruit, spice, violet and garrigue, perfectly reflecting the Mediterranean soul of Gigondas terroirs.
