Côtes de Millau: Characterful Reds from the Aveyron

Set among the limestone plateaus and dramatic gorges of the Tarn, the Côtes de Millau AOC crafts rustic and expressive reds in the heart of Aveyron — a little-known gem with strong local identity.

Cool, rugged terroir

The vines grow on limestone-clay slopes, shaped by altitude, winds and strong day-night temperature shifts. These natural conditions produce fresh, well-balanced wines with precise aromas.

Honest, rustic and fresh reds

Blending Gamay, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and sometimes local grapes like Duras or Fer Servadou, the wines show notes of red berries, pepper, herbs and sometimes smoke. They are light to medium-bodied, with fresh acidity and soft tannins.

Wines for the table and the region

Best enjoyed young (2 to 5 years), Côtes de Millau reds are ideal for rustic regional dishes and casual sharing — the taste of Aveyron in a glass.

Food pairings

Great with aligot and sausage, duck confit, grilled trout or Aveyron-style country fare. Pairs well with sheep’s milk cheeses too.
