Givry: Affordable Elegance from Côte Chalonnaise

Located south of Mercurey, Givry is a hidden gem of Burgundy, producing mostly red wines from Pinot Noir and a few fresh white Chardonnays.

Fruity and expressive reds

Givry reds show bright ruby color with aromas of cherry, strawberry, violet, and hints of pepper or licorice. The palate is smooth, fresh, with silky tannins — enjoyable young but also age-worthy.

Floral and charming whites

Less common but well-crafted, Givry whites are lively, floral, and sometimes lightly buttery, showing an easy-drinking side of Chardonnay.

A historic and high-quality appellation

Favored by Henri IV, Givry includes around thirty Premier Cru sites. Its clay-limestone soils and good sun exposure ensure excellent ripeness and consistent quality.

Food pairings

Reds: Perfect with country pâté, roast veal, or grilled poultry.
Whites: Ideal with pan-seared fish, warm goat cheese salad, or shellfish.
