Located across the Rhône from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Lirac is one of the few Rhône AOCs producing red, rosé, and white wines. Though less known, its white wines — based on Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Bourboulenc, and Roussanne — are of excellent quality.
Vineyards grow on soils of pebbles, red clay and sand, which provide both ripeness and freshness. The mistral wind helps maintain acidity despite the warm southern climate.
Lirac whites feature aromas of white flowers, citrus, stone fruits, and sometimes fennel or anise. On the palate, they’re round, smooth and lively.
Still under the radar, Lirac whites are generous yet balanced wines, ideal for Mediterranean cuisine and warm-weather dining.
Great with grilled fish, stuffed vegetables, composed salads, lemony poultry or fresh goat cheese.
