Pécharmant: The Red Jewel of Bergerac

Pécharmant is one of the most esteemed red wine appellations of the Bergerac region. Located on the hills east of Bergerac, it produces only red wines — known for their power, balance and aging ability.

A distinctive terroir rich in iron clay (“tran”)

The soils are made of gravel, clay and especially “tran,” a ferruginous clay layer that gives the wines structure and depth. Hillside exposures and a temperate oceanic climate ensure optimal ripening.

Bold, fruity and generous reds

Expect aromas of ripe black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry), spice, forest floor and sometimes truffle. The palate is full-bodied, with structured tannins and a lingering freshness.

An age-worthy, complex wine

Pécharmant reds can age gracefully for 10 to 15 years, gaining complexity and refinement. They’re also enjoyable young, especially when decanted to reveal their expressive fruit.

Food pairings

Ideal with game, beef stew, duck breast or slow-cooked dishes. Also pairs beautifully with aged hard cheeses.
