The Touraine red AOC spans a wide area around Tours, on both sides of the Loire River. It produces accessible, varied red wines from grapes like Cabernet Franc, Côt (Malbec), Gamay and Pinot Noir, either as single varietals or blends.
Touraine offers a patchwork of soils — clay-limestone, sand, gravel and tuffeau — under a mild oceanic influence. This variety allows for reds ranging from light and juicy to more structured, always with a natural freshness.
Touraine reds display aromas of cherry, raspberry, sweet pepper or licorice. On the palate, they’re round, crunchy and easy to drink — perfect for casual enjoyment.
Ideal for lovers of fresh, unoaked reds, Touraine wines are great when young and fruity, but can also develop more softness with a couple of years in bottle.
