Tursan: Red Wines from the Heart of the Landes

In the Landes region, near the Pyrenees and Atlantic Ocean, the Tursan AOC produces authentic, rustic red wines with strong identity — a rare wine-producing zone in a land of forests and cornfields.

A unique terroir of sand, clay and gravel

Tursan’s vineyards grow on fawn-colored sands, clay and pebbly soils. The oceanic climate brings freshness and humidity, balanced by southern exposure — perfect for slow, steady ripening.

Structured and expressive reds

Often blends of Tannat, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, these wines show notes of red and black fruits, pepper, forest floor and sometimes leather. Firm but supple tannins and a fresh finish define their style.

Characterful and food-friendly

Underrated but rewarding, Tursan reds age well for 5 to 8 years and offer great value. Ideal for lovers of rustic, regional wines.

Food pairings

Excellent with Landes-style garbure, grilled lamb chops, blood sausage with apples, or traditional rustic dishes. Also pairs nicely with aged sheep’s cheese.
