Description
Distilled in 1941 during World War II, this Vieux Calvados from Roger Groult is a true piece of French heritage. Crafted from traditional apples grown and processed on the estate, it underwent a double distillation over a wood fire in a pot still, then aged slowly in oak casks. The result is a spirit of exceptional elegance, depth, and rustic refinement—a rare and complex expression shaped by time and terroir.

Blend
Cider apples from traditional Pays d’Auge varieties, all harvested and processed on the estate.

Tasting Notes
• Appearance: Brilliant, limpid amber with copper reflections
• Nose: Deep and expressive. Notes of stewed apple, aged leather, fine oak, antique spices, beeswax, walnut, and blond tobacco
• Palate: Silky and mature. Baked apple, dried fruits, elegant rancio, melted caramel, and soft spices. Long and noble finish with persistent roundness

Cellaring Potential
At peak maturity. A collector’s bottle that remains perfectly stable when cellared under proper conditions.

Food & Calvados Pairings
Best enjoyed neat, at room temperature, in a quiet moment. Pairs beautifully with aged Camembert, warm Normandy apple tart, or vanilla crème brûlée.
