Alsace Grand Cru: The Ultimate Expression of Alsatian Terroir

The 51 named Grand Crus of Alsace (such as Schlossberg, Brand, Rangen, or Kaefferkopf) crown the region’s famous hillsides with granitic, volcanic, limestone, or clay soils. These designated sites produce exceptional, precise, and age-worthy wines.

Diverse terroirs, distinctive identity

Each Grand Cru reflects its unique geology – granite in Rangen, metamorphic rock in Brand, marl in Geisberg, etc. Sunny slopes and dry microclimates ensure optimal ripening.

Noble Alsatian grape varieties

Only Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Muscat and occasionally Sylvaner are permitted. These wines showcase purity, aromatic complexity—floral, spicy, ripe fruit—and striking mineral notes.

Elegant, long-lived, and gastronomic style

Structured, typically dry or delicately off-dry, they combine tension, depth, and length. These are refined wines built for aging and gourmet cuisine.

Food pairings

Perfect with fine fish, shellfish, white meat in cream sauce, foie gras, aged cheeses, or delicate Asian dishes.
