Description
The 2020 Cornas “Allégorie” by Christophe Pichon embodies the expressive and bold character of this legendary appellation on the right bank of the Rhône. A true tribute to Syrah in its rawest and most authentic form, this wine comes from steep, granite-rich slopes and reflects meticulous work both in the vineyard and in the cellar. A carefully managed oak aging adds harmonious complexity, balancing firm structure with refined elegance.
Blend
100% Syrah, exclusively from the granite terroirs of Cornas.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Deep and dense with a near-black purple hue and violet highlights.
Nose: Intense and characterful, offering aromas of wild blackberry, blueberry, violet, with smoky, peppery, and leathery undertones. Hints of garrigue herbs and licorice emerge as it opens up.
Palate: Powerful and structured, with firm yet well-integrated tannins. The mouthfeel is mineral and precise, showing freshness despite its density. Ripe black fruits dominate, lifted by spice and a long, balsamic-tinged finish.
Cellaring Potential
8 to 15 years. Decant in its youth to fully reveal its complexity.
Food Pairings
Perfect with wild boar stew, dry-aged ribeye steak, roast leg of lamb, or duck breast in pepper sauce. Also pairs wonderfully with aged hard cheeses such as Salers or Laguiole.
